Prakasam Police Takes Strong Action Against Modified Silencers and Unauthorized Headlights to Enhance Road Safety

Prakasam Police Cracks Down on Modified Vehicle Components

In a decisive move to enforce road safety and minimize noise pollution, the Prakasam police conducted a special operation that resulted in the destruction of over 100 modified silencers and 400 unauthorized headlights. This operation, which took place on March 25, 2026, saw the unregulated vehicle parts crushed under a road roller at the district police office in Ongole.

Intensified Campaign for Road Safety

Superintendent of Police V. Harshavardhan Raju oversaw the destruction, emphasizing the critical importance of adhering to traffic regulations. The initiative was part of a broader campaign that lasted four months, during which the traffic police targeted two-wheelers and autorickshaws that were outfitted with excessive noise-making devices and blinding lights.

Addressing Noise Pollution and Visibility Issues

The police identified that many modified silencers contributed to disturbing noise levels, adversely affecting the community. Additionally, unauthorized headlights on motorcycles and autorickshaws posed significant risks by blinding other drivers, thereby increasing the likelihood of accidents.

Police Appeal for Responsible Behavior

During the operation, SP Raju highlighted the dangers of improper vehicle modifications, warning riders against using excessively bright lights or any alterations that contravene legal standards. He urged motorists to observe traffic regulations such as avoiding wrong-side driving and being cautious during overtaking maneuvers.

Innovative Awareness Campaigns Underway

Raju has initiated various innovative measures to spread awareness about road safety among commuters. A public addressing system has been implemented at key locations, including toll gates and busy areas in Ongole, to communicate important traffic rules to motorists effectively.

Community Cooperation is Crucial

The Superintendent appealed to the public to cooperate with law enforcement efforts to enhance road safety. He emphasized the need for community engagement in adhering to traffic laws and the importance of responsible driving.

Conclusion: A Collective Responsibility

The proactive measures taken by the Prakasam police reflect a significant commitment to ensuring safer roads in the district. It is vital for all citizens to recognize their role in maintaining road safety and contributing to a more secure driving environment. Compliance with traffic rules is not just a legal obligation but also a responsibility towards the community.
